Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND and SENCO)

SEND & SENCO Information Statement

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Elmtree Preschool, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive. We recognise that children develop at their own pace and may have individual needs that require additional support.

We follow the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to ensure we identify and support any special educational needs or disabilities as early as possible.

  • Our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) is Caroline Marchant, who is trained and experienced in supporting children with a range of additional needs.

  • We work closely with parents/carers, health visitors, and external professionals to create personalised support plans.

  • Reasonable adjustments are made to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all children.

If you have any concerns about your child’s development, please speak to our friendly and supportive team, and you are always welcome to arrange a meeting with our SENDCO, Caroline. We’re always here, and happy to help.

Portage and Inclusion

Elmtree Preschool is also supported by Bristol City Council's Portage and Inclusion team.

Our allocated specialist is Katie Duncan. We can arrange for her to come in to offer support and advice for our families and team.

You can also access help and support via Bristol Family Hubs. Family Hubs offer information, advice and help to all families in Bristol. For more information please click her to view the .BRISTOL FAMILY HUBS Website
